In 1984 Joe Armstrong set out to identify and fish every limestone stream in Pennsylvania. His goal was to make sure each stream was properly classified and protected. He anticipated visiting thirty-five to fifty streams. Seven years later his list topped three hundred. At each stream he took notes on water temperature and conditions, stream width and length, insect activity, and the types and quality of fish he encountered. All the stream descriptions were then reviewed by the local Trout Unlimited chapters. Trout Unlimited's Guide to Pennsylvania Limestone Streams, the result of his efforts, is ideal for both anglers and stream conservationists. Fish populations, stream conditions, and hatch information are given for every limestoner in the Commonwealth. The streams are organized by county, with more than thirty maps illustrating how to reach them." "Limestone. Mention it to a trout fisherman and you'll set off a flood of associations - watercress. dimples. seductive currents. blizzardlike hatches. fat trout! This book will guide you through a wide variety of Pennsylvania's trout streams, all bound together by various degrees of limestone influence.
